Aphrodite, Goddess of Love and Abundance

The seasons they are a changing. I have been in a heart break slump for a few weeks. I asked Aphrodite for help a couple of days back. She can be very generous in healing the heart and opening it up for new possibilities. The results of my request have shown up for my healing through my amazing resources of community.  First I was gifted tickets for the Pleasanton Highland Games and was fortunate to have the entire weekend to be with my "peeps". I love my extended family and our "taste tests". The Farquharsons are generous in heart and spirit. I also rode the "Dicken's" out of my penny farthing, swerved a bit after the second taste test. Throughout the day I pounded the earth Celtic style to the drum beats of Brother, a band from Down under. They were at Faerieworlds 2010 and I couldn't have imagined that their set would lift me higher than before. Listen to them as soon as your little ears can seek out their didg', drums and pipes. Another band that inspired me to thump and writhe was Albannach. I've seen them at the Fringe, Edinburgh in years past and was thrilled they'd made it across the pond. Their drumming is so intense that my hips have become double jointed, LOL!.

Then today, I awoke and found that abundance had reached me here on the home front.

I was included in a treasury on etsy today, whoot whoot! http://www.etsy.com/listing/25995155/treasury-item-eye-of-sauron-fire-opal?ga_search_query=fire%2Bopal&ga_search_type=user_shop_ttt_id_5376328

Clearing your Path under the Full Moon

The August 2010 full moon is the smallest, farthest full moon of the year. It lies more than 252,000 miles away, in contrast to the moon’s average distance of about 239,000 miles. For more information on the full moon this evening please visit http://earthsky.org/tonight
The name of this August full moon is the Green Corn Moon. This is a perfect time to perform a simple ritual for clearing your path of unwanted obstacles that you have been treading over for some time.
If you can join in a circle then you will perform this together. If you are a solitary practitioner, spread a circle of salt around you and stand within. Take scraps of paper and write the negative thoughts that are holding you back, whether they be about yourself or others you have relationships with. Then burn those pieces of paper while declaring out loud how you choose to see yourself as a loving, powerful, present person. Thank the Goddesses of the moon for your connection to your highest self. That is it! I hope you feel inspiration in the practice of this simple ritual.
If you ever want to discuss full moon folklore, rituals and mythology please feel free to contact me here or on either of my facebook fan pages, rainasvintageattic, rainadelmagick

New rainasvintageattic facebook fan page

I have made a new fan page for my second shop. rainasvintageattic Please check it out and join it if you feel so inclined. I look forward to having fellow paganteam and metaphysicalteam members join and post their own shop, fan page and blog links.

It's Official, I'm heading to Scotland to Hawk my Wares!

If any of you creative souls will be at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh this August, 2009 please oh please do come and visit JoJo's World and rainadelmagick. We are fortunate enough to be included amongst the unique and talented artists in the West End show near the historical Churchyard at the west end of Prince's Street. Please visit the website below to find out more about the event and other arts and crafts shows 3D2D puts on throughout the UK. Also head on over to rainadelmagick to see what types of artwork I'll be bringing. Or you can go to my etsy shop and send a convo to me if you might be able to meet up there and have a special request or just want to arrange to go to a pub.
Jo-anne D. Bertenshaw is an illustrator and also creates the most amazing faery/fairy dolls. We are doing a cross country collaboration on several projects together for the festival. I've written a story called No One Knows Me Like My Gnome and she is doing all of the illustrations and will also be drawing for the the other weird poems and stories I spill forth from my Mental Attic.
We will have updates here and at sanfrancisco-to-skye.blogspot.com/over the next two months on our progress as co-creators and also invites for fun events where we would be truly honored to meet with our fellow pagans and artisans. I sure do hope to see some of you there!

Coraline, take me away

I saw Coraline yesterday. I was in Gothic heaven. I found myself wanting to crawl into the story and block the return door. I don't know what this says about my state of mind (age wise) or my state of satisfaction with the world as it manifests day to day, but I always end up chocking down tears of longing for my youth when I see films like this. The Nightmare Before Christmas especially draws me in with it's hypnotic soundtrack by Danny Elfman. I feel an attempt to woo me with promises of safety in the darkness being offered if I will just release my connection with the mundane worries of all that I wake up to in this plane. "Ah, but that is the dilemma isn't it?" If I slip into madness will I always enjoy the fantasy world or should I be satisfied with the possibility of unknown events that can unfold here? Well, as of this morning I'm hanging in here still. Another day of walking a few dogs in the rain for minimal earnings with a good friend and then coming home to pay the utility bills may not have me feeling like leaping out of bed, but who knows? Maybe I'll see a wraith in the mists while we hike along the cliffs in Pacifica. Maybe I'll find inspiration in the music of the rain drops and return with new poetry aching to be written. For additional musings please meander over to another spot in the world of JoJo
and rainadelmagick on our joint artistic projects page here at  Creative Connections from San Francisco to Skye.
